Safar Ki Dukaan began with a simple love for travel.
What started as journeys across India soon became a search for the stories hidden within its textiles. In weaving towns, artisan homes and bustling local markets, we discovered not just beautiful sarees, but the people, traditions and craftsmanship behind them.

Today, every collection we curate is a reflection of those journeys - handpicked, thoughtfully chosen and connected to a place, a craft and the hands that bring it to life.

 

WHERE IT ALL STARTED?

Long before Safar Ki Dukaan existed, we were simply travellers.

Wherever we went, we found ourselves drawn to local crafts, weaving communities and the stories behind them. We spent hours wandering through lanes, stepping into workshops, speaking with artisans and learning about traditions that had been passed down through generations.

With every journey, our admiration for India's textile heritage grew. So did our desire to share these discoveries with others.

What began as curiosity slowly evolved into a dream.

 

MEET THE FOUNDERS

Torsha
Storyteller. Collector of experiences. Believer that India's greatest treasures are often hidden in plain sight. She is a nurturer at heart, blending creativity, entrepreneurship, and a love for Indian crafts. With 17 years in marketing & communications, she once built The Orange Bicycle and now pours her passion into Safar Ki Dukaan, championing handlooms, especially sarees. An expressive art therapy and Bach Flower healing practitioner, she also cultivates a lush Bangalore home filled with plants, DIY projects, and baking experiments. A saree lover and handloom enthusiast, Torsha weaves warmth, beauty, and creativity into every aspect of life.

Explorer. Artist. Textile enthusiast. Always ready to take the road less travelled in search of the next discovery. She is a self-taught artist, expressive arts therapist, and co-founder of Safar Ki Dukaan. After a creative stint in advertising and event management, she shifted gears to follow her true passions—art, travel, and community. Deeply connected to local artisans and native crafts, she explores and celebrates traditional handlooms through her travels with Safar Ki Dukaan, weaving stories of heritage and crafts along the way. Growing up in small towns nurtured her deep bond with nature, which now flourishes in her Bangalore home's garden. A mountain lover and yoga practitioner, she finds joy in children's books, home-cooked meals, sky-gazing, and quiet moments with her paints and tea.

WHY WE STARTED SAFAR KI DUKAAN?

We didn't start Safar Ki Dukaan to sell sarees.

We started it because every journey left us wanting to share what we had discovered.

Some of the most remarkable things we found on our journeys weren't just places, but people - artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations. We wanted to help bring their work and stories to a wider audience.

Safar Ki Dukaan became our way of creating a bridge between the people who make these extraordinary textiles and the people who wear and cherish them.

Through our collections, we hope to help you discover India the way we have - one weave, one town and one story at a time.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe India is best experienced through its stories.

Sometimes those stories are told through food. Sometimes through music. Sometimes through people.

And sometimes, through a saree.

Every weave carries the memory of a place, a community and a tradition. By choosing handloom, we are choosing to celebrate these stories, honour craftsmanship and embrace a slower, more thoughtful way of consuming fashion.

For us, a saree is never just a garment. It is culture, history and human creativity woven together.

Safar Ki Dukaan is still a work in progress - and that's exactly how we like it.
